World Conference of Futures Research 2015

The 17th International Futures Conference organized by the Finland Futures Research Centre and the Finland Futures Academy will be held from June 11-12, 2015, in Turku, Finland. This conference leads the way in combining academic conference tradition with new ways of participation. Going by the title “Futures Studies Tackling Wicked Problems: Where Futures Research, Education and Action Meet” it is an international forum for the philosophies, methods, ideas and concrete examples to find out what is going on in the field of futures research, education and action.

In this conference the tradition meets new ways of participation: academia meeting activism and experience meeting enthusiasm. The program will consist of keynote lectures, parallel sessions, panel discussions and performances on six themes:

  1. Philosophy of Futures Studies
  2. Methodologies
  3. Futures Education and Learning
  4. Studies on Futures Research
  5. Evolving Identity of Futures Research
  6. Futures Movement and New Creative Cultures

Following these themes the conference will work collaboratively discussing research, initiatives and projects. The aim of the conference is to harness the views of preferable futures and methods for reaching them and also to generate multidisciplinary, lively and productive discussions, as well as promote networking between people from different backgrounds. The event is organized in co-operation with World Futures Studies Federation, Otava Folk High School Co-Operative Society, The Finnish Society for Futures Studies and Turku University of Applied Sciences.
